As promised I only want to bring you finished versions of maps, and not ones that are being tested. Beta maps require much updating and trying to find the current version. There is currently a lull of finished maps for the PS3 but many in Beta, so I will start updating again once these maps have been finalised.
My advice is to subscribe to my RSS feed then as soon as I post a new map or content it will appear in your feeder reader.

The Great Wide Open

The thing I like about todays mod is that it brings Warfare outside and not just outside but a great big sprawling outside! Warfare maps I have played up to now have either been inside or in small claustrophobic maps. This is a wide outdoor, bright terrain, which also contains fixed guns and vehicles. This has been created by Cosmix and is called Torlan he also adds his own description "This is a total conversion of UT2004 ONS-Torlan.
In the beginning I only wanted to learn the new Editor, because I'll shift all mapping activities from UT2004 to UT3.
So I started to sample something I know good and took ONS-Torlan, the best retail UT2004 ONS map, to gain some practice with the new Editor.
Finally the map plays funny with that old-style look and I decided to complete it.
My goal was a 1:1 conversion with original UT2004 Textures, Static Meshes and Music.
The whole map is small in video memory usage and amount of triangles. I tweaked as best as I can.
So it should run fine on weaker machines. Some responds in this case would be interesting.
There are only a few exceptions to the original Torlan:
The HillTop Node is a StandaloneNode now. Both teams can capture it at anytime but there is no connection to any Core or Node from that one.
Another exception is a SpiderMinePortable near HillTop Node, because there are no more SpiderMineLaunchers like there were in UT2004 Torlan.
At last I remove all Avrils and Snipers out of the Weapon Lockers and put them separate to that Lockers.

Also I removed the Avril from the canyon CentralNode.
Because of the small map size and much slower vehicles like in UT2004, I put the Stinger Turret instead of the other one,
that is too fast in fire-rate.
The map comes with two Node setups, with and without Orb. Default is without. Best played 8 to 16 players."

DownPour

Todays Map is named Downpour, and created by Setheran, for 4-8 people. Described as the creator as "Medium-sized city-themed map where players fight in alleyways at ground level, across open rooftops and through cramped interiors. Features all weapons and most powerups/armours, all of which the bots will grab if you don't beat them to it." This is a great map and like it says contains all weapons.

Its Alright Now

Apologies for the lack of posts since last Wednesday but I am back up again now.
Todays mod is a Capture the flag map by the name of Acropolis, by Wolverine. As you can see from the screen shots this is based on a Lord of the rings styled map. The designer writes "After The War of Edreneh. The Acropolis is left in ruins for 100 years, Till The Liandri Corp comes to power and convinces the assembly to use money made from the mining colony to rebuild the Acropolis For The Tournament..... and NOW!, It's Ready For Your Enemy's DESTRUCTION! Or maybe Just Your Demise!"

First Xbox now Nintendo!

Not to be outdone by Master Chief and GOW characters, appearing on UT3, A Nintendo fan by the name of Alcor43 has created Metriod Primes Samus Aran character model for UT3. This Character model is outstanding and resembles Samus to the minute detail. The only question now is which of your favourite characters do you play as.

DGUnreal Double Deal Part 2
The second DGunreal map, Hypoxia, is a stark contrast to NecrisIsland as it is a small claustrophobic battle arena ideal for fast paced deathmatch action. The designer describes it as "Battle to the death in this small rocket and flak arena style map. Close-quarters fighting, lifts, and a number of weapons at your disposal." Its nice dark metal design gives you that edge of the seat experience as you never know whats round the corner.
Finally and the thing which really adds that final finishing touch to a map, for me is a back story which DGUnreal provides in the following:
"High atop the Liandri Robotics Corporation building, the experimental Berzerk Gas was accidentally released into the air conditioning ducts of the top floor. This caused an immediate floor lock-down, the lower floors of the building were evacuated, and the maintenance workers trapped on the floor went crazy. Will you survive the mayhem?"

DGUnreal Double Deal!

NecrisIsland has become one of my favourite maps, right up there with Garden Of Dreams. This is a big map with large indoor and outdoor areas jump pads and a long pier. Weapons are enough to keep you alive with some hidden gems and plenty of hiding places. The map is one of the best looking maps available for the PS3, and is all credit to its designer DGUnreal, its also another real showcase for the PS3 which manages to run this map without any slowdown or other graphical glitches. DGUnreal promises more maps for UT3 and you can check out his website here.

Weekend Round Up 7th April - 11th April
Here is this weeks weekly round up with a look at what the mods that people have been enjoying this week, in one neat post. Just click on the day and date link and this will take you to the post giving you more information on the mod and a link to the download.
Warfare map called War-Valley was first up this week with its narrow map and its falling snow, it causes all kinds of chaos.

Another Snowy map today but outstanding it is, and even includes a back story. Arctic Shipment Night is its name.
![[screenshot3as1.jpg]](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtxKpHGUUR6vXcgYHsVs8MNu6HsUIq1ReiI-USYpQbdeQ38rZICb5-1SHtkhNIYxg_9_6O7I-OYCIC_hPqRcejswtYSg9gFzpsUPAP-oEBacp2QbobZoylel8N28fm8mRjDnVYMy3Eyw/s1600/screenshot3as1.jpg)
Nowhere is a masterpiece worthy of Salvidor Dali, all thats missing is the melting clocks! But there is even more to this map with the center building being destructible which constantly changes the terrain, and also which guns are accessible and which have been blocked by falling rubble.
**Note** The initial version of this map featured a bug which made the terrain appear white this has been fixed and if you click no the link to the day, above, it will take you to the post with a link to download the fixed version.

The final offering of the week was to mutators that were nicely linked together PCSpeedx and PCSpeedxPlus gave you a taste of what its like playing the game game in its full pc glory.Friday, 11 April 2008
Lets Ramp It Up!
Today's Mod of the day has been requested for by a reader who has asked for the PCSpeedx Mod to be added. This Mod, PCSpeedx, speeds up the game to the same speed as the PC version and the second part of it, PCSpeedXPlus, makes the 20% faster than the PC Version. This mod normally creates 2 questions:
1 Why is the PS3 version slower than the PC version? This is basically down to the controllers Epic decided that it would be more accessible to console players, using control pads, to slow it down slightly. Their is a state of opinion that it is slightly slower to turn your character around using a control pad, compared to the mouse keyboard combination. This is also why you have the option of connecting a mouse and keyboard to the PS3 version and using that instead. However the weapon fire rate has not been reduced from the PC version.
2 Is there any performance issues when speeding up the game, on PS3? This has been tested for a while and people running this game through HDMI cable have not noticed any slow down are graphical issues using this moderator.
To activate this mod you need to select it as a game mutator which you do by pressing square during a games setup menus.
DOWNLOAD - PCSPEEDX
DOWNLOAD - PCSPEEDXPLUS
The video shows the Speed Freak mod, and not the PCspeedx mod, but gives you an idea of the speed you get.

Here's Jonnnnny!

"A small cargo ship left the port of New York 2 weeks ago heading north. No one has had any contact with the crew, who are assumed dead. Not 3 days after declared missing, a drifting boat spotted the cargo ship idle in an arctic region. The ship did not move. Scuba divers later found out that the propellers were tangled in some sort of wire. The crew were never found."
Finally he has also promised a day version and a VCTF version too, as soon as these are available I will post them.

Warfare

Valley is an outstanding map, created by Cr4zyB4st4rd over on the Epic forums and cooked by AnubanUT2 for the PS3.
As well as being set in a valley and looking outstanding the original PC version contained falling snow. The creator questioned whether this would hamper the conversion to PS3 but gladly it didn't and the map still contained falling snow in the PS3 version, without causing slowdown. This is very impressive stuff and shows the strength and capabilities of the PS3 system.

Appetite For Destruction!
The second map today, you lucky people, is nicely linked to the Lego map, as it is the first large map to take the destructible settings to the next level. Remus, over at the epic forums, created a map called Tiberium, which was based on the command and conquer universe and which you can get here. He has now revised this map and created a special edition of it which includes the following:
*3 vehicles: scavanger, scorpion, goliath. The Goliath is hidden somewhere.
*Destructible walls, windows and random objects.
*Physics objects
*Explosive Barrles
*Bombs on main road activated by detonator.

There isn't any video footage of this map but I will try to do one myself later, for this map.

Lego, Lego Let Me Go
Due to a problem publishing posts yesterday, I think it was my connection for some reason, I will be treating you to 2 maps today.
Because of this I have linked the two together. First map up deserves a special mention as it was the first one to use the new settings in the pc tool set. It is a Lego map and shows what can be done with the new destructible settings, in the pc tools. Its a nice small map which is nice to play but also you can knock down houses trees etc by firing at them. This map was created by LordSimeone over at the epic forums.

In The 3rd Person
Seeing we have had a Map and Character mod I thought today I would post the third and type of mod, a mutator. These are mods that change the gameplay in some way such as speeding it up, faster reloading of weapons or the UT favourite instagib.
The mod I have chosen for todays posting however is the action cam mutator. This is changes the camera angle from first person to 3rd person, over the shoulder view and is good for people who are more used to the the like of Halo or GOW type shooters.

Shipment Comes Home
Todays Unreal Tournament recommendation is a map, that may be familiar to some and is a good starting place for beginners, and a must have for the rest. 'Fibbes' has accurately recreated Shipment, from Call of Duty 4, this is a very detailed recreation. Its a nice small map, for ut3, and get you lots of instant action. Unlike the COD4 version tho you can climb and collect weapons in places you couldn't reach before.

Mod Of The Day
The first Mod I have chosen is a right doozy its a mod for a character model for Halo's Master Chief.
This is a very detailed and clever character model created by Organ from utps3.incadudef.com. This is the most detailed character model I have personally seen for the PS3.

Also available on the link is models for Gears Of War Characters including Marcus and Locusts.
Master Chief just click on the character and it will take you to the download screen.
*UPDATE* Hands Up! I admit I have just found out that the Master Chief Model is only in beta great apologies. I will keep updating the link for you, as the beta gets updated, and will post when I update the link. So you don't have to go chasing and looking for the latest versions. This will not happen again and I will strive to only post final versions of mods.

UT3 Mod A Day
I have created this blog for beginners to Unreal Tournament 3, on PS3, who are wanting to know where to start when looking for Mods, and long time players who are looking for a great mod. Knowing where to start, which ones are the best and which ones to download can be kind of daunting and a minefield even to long time players.
I intend to use this blog to post a Mod-A-Day and post one which I consider good or deserves an honorable mention. I will only post complete, or finished versions of mods, maps or character models, which will help beginners in not having to chase the latest update all the time. I will also add either pictures and videos of the mods where I can.
Finally I will hopefully also create an extensive list of sources for websites which archive or allow you to download mods. I will also give a brief description of how mods work, how to download them and how to use them in game.
